Our Mission
Upper San Juan Search and Rescue (USJSAR) is a non-profit, volunteer organization that trains and organizes volunteers in search, rescue, and other emergency services as described herein. USJSAR volunteers respond only when activated by the Archuleta County Sheriff or his designee and operate where directed by the Sheriff or his designee. USJSAR members volunteer to provide these services so that others may live.
Our Bylaws are here.

Support for USJSAR
How can I financially support Upper San Juan Search & Rescue without donating?
Register your CityMarket or Kroger Loyalty card using the directions on this page and designate Upper San Juan Search and Rescue (Organization number PR619) under "Community Rewards". A percentage of the money you spend at CityMarket will be donated to USJSAR.
Consider a Recurring Gift
Recurring gifts are gifts given at regular intervals, such as through automatic monthly gifts in an amount of your choice. Recurring gifts help us by providing ongoing support for equipment and supplies. If you are interested in giving a recurring gift you do so by going here and selecting Monthly.
Direct Donation
USJSAR is funded solely by your donations, if you are interesting in donating via debit card or credit card click here.
For other ways to give see the Support our Work page.
Coverage Area
Although Upper San Juan Search and Rescue (USJSAR) operates under Archuleta County Sherif's office, we also respond to calls in Hindsdale County, Mineral County, and to the west into La Plata County.
We are often closer to some areas of these counties and are therefore able to respond quicker. We also participate with other county SAR organizations if additional resources are required.
